Introduction
With the continuous depth of higher education system reforms and a gradual expansion of university enrollment the number of students in a given university keeps on rising dramatically. Nonetheless, a university can accommodate thousands of students globally, regionally or internationally. Meaning that, students from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds amalgamate to form one institution. Past research has revealed that the differences in subpopulation are what make students form expectations about a specific class or subject. Students have numerous expectations from a university class and it is the faculty’s duty to ensure that they live up to the student’s expectations. Still on the other hand, the faculty needs to be aware that there is more to life on campus than passing exams and studying. That is, an individual is developed and he /she will be in a better position to make lifelong business networks or contacts in future. University or college life prepares a person in advance for the outside world.
Thesis statement
Studying in university or college is very challenging because of these numerous expectations students have. By comparison, these expectations may change overtime whenever the students become accustomed to the school norms. These changes may either be positive or negative depending with an individual. Nevertheless, most universities employ a common student evaluation of teaching ratings with lectures having the same course outlines and programmes. So why is it that some students excel while others fail? Why is it that some do an adequate job while others do not?
College forms a huge transition from high school. Suddenly, students experience more freedom and independence but also a lot more work is expected from them. Those who were good students at high schools find their grades declining at a rapid state. There are many reasons why some students do not excel in campus and fail in their courses. Some students have gone in campus and have underestimated the amount of homework or tasks given. It is easy to fall behind whenever a student becomes disorganized or does not keep up with the workload. There is less opportunity for a student to recover from a bad start since each university course lasts one semester. In addition to the fact that, universities provides wide ranges of extracurricular activities such as social clubs, for a freshman, it can be challenging to choose to be responsible and study instead he/she would wish to engage in more fun activities with the friends.
