Company: Notion

Country: Philippines
171455715
1 Justification of your company & and country choice (50 words)
The notion, which already operates as an application in the Philippines but is obtaining an office to accommodate its rapidly growing customers, is to have an office locally to improve customer relations and local marketing and liaise with other businesses and learning institutions. It is suited to the people of the Philippines, their skills, and their geographical position.
2 Internal analysis (200 words)
* Preparedness for Internationalisation:
Due to Notion's well-developed global structure, it is well-positioned to expand its localized representation with a physical office in the Philippines. The internet scenario in the country has since expanded, with 69 million internet users in 2023 compared to 2018, with 48 million (Balita, 2024). The Filipino people are active internet users with an average usage of 9 hours daily, making platforms such as Notion possible.
* Motives for Internationalisation:
Opening an office will enable Notion to tap more into the market for tooling up employees in the Philippines, where the internet economy has added 2.05 trillion Philippine pesos to the GDP in 2023, contributing 9.4% to the overall GDP of the Philippines. Moreover, e-commerce, one of the fastest-growing markets, was valued at 15 billion US dollars in 2022 for its gross merchandise. This means that digital environment usage is expanding, which Notion can leverage (Balita, 2024).
* Potential Triggers to Internationalize:
Internet quality and access have increased due to improvements in internet infrastructure. For instance, the 5G network and fixed internet download speed is 92 Mbps. Globe, one of the largest service providers in the Philippines, has demonstrated this by establishing 27 5G sites in the first quarter of 2024 (Globe, 2024).
Combined with the high Internet usage rate, there is a demand for instruments that help increase efficiency and cooperation; thus, it is high time that Notion opened a regional office.
* Rationale for Internationalisation Theory:
The Uppsala Internationalisation Model has empirical evidence behind Notion's gradual process of going international, starting with a physical office in the target market to establish partnerships and offer customized services...
