Are you enterprising?
According to Rohn (n.d), being enterprising means seeing the future in the present; enterprising is about turning a problem into an opportunity. Entrepreneurship is the outcome of many traits and attributes of an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is an individual who manages and runs a company or companies while taking on significant financial risks in the process (Griffin, 2018). For many people, entrepreneurship can be a difficult and exhausting endeavor. Some people are fortunate enough to prosper for the very first time.
For a long time, I believed that in order to be successful, I had to create something that's never been accomplished previously. While this is true in some cases, an invention can be relatively simple. I have come to realize it is about finding a problem and solving it in an innovative way. For example, the founder of OraBrush desired a basic tool to use as a tongue scraper as an alternative to helping people with bad breath. Ideas can be simple and do not require cutting-edge innovation to satisfy a basic need (Rampton, 2018). Basic ideas with a bit of innovation can lead to success.
An enterprising person needs to hone their skills; I need to have a signature mark that people can identify me with. My diverse skill set made me average and generalist. I had a little bit of understanding about a wide range of industries and areas of expertise. A generalist can be beneficial for team management, but I found myself consistently being average at best and not finding success in any area. I was not well-known for anything.
