This is especially the case when leading the military whose main focus is to show the mission of international nation-building and humanitarian services to the people. As presented in the readings, the case of Rwanda’s Kibeho Massacre is clear evidence of how leading in a military situation is complex and brings difficulties in the completion of the missions. Coordination with Non-Military Entities The challenge of attaining effective coordination of different entities of non-military services is the primary challenge leaders face to bring peace and unity in civilian or humanitarian environments (Coats, 2005). As presented in the Kibeho Massacre in Rwanda, the leading of the mission wad particularly difficult due to the presence of numerous non-military entities such as the Australian Defense Force (ADF) Medical Contingent (Warfe, 2018). As part of the United Nations Assistance mission in the country, the medical contingent presented military leadership with a challenge of integration with the military entity.
