Eagleton’s analysis of ideologies and ideological strategies complicates my understanding of what ideology means and entails through his assumptions that the different definitions cannot be compatible. According to him, they cannot be consistent as they would display a depressing mode of making sense. In my opinion, this is confusing as the definitions bear similar connotations, which make them compatible to some level.
