This 3 pages is for my visual culture class, and I need one page for the topic proposal (please see the attachment for details) and two pages for annotated bibliography (10 of them).
I want to focus my topic on Henry Moore and Antony Gormley, two british sculptors. Because their sculptures are mainly about figures and they are kind of all hollowed figures. I want to investigate more about hollowed figures in visual art.

Topic Description
The purpose of writing this paper is to highlight how Henry Spencer Moore and Antony Mark David Gormley have contributed to the field of art. Henry Spencer is widely famous for his semi-abstract monumental bronze sculptures; these are present in almost all art museums of the world. On the other hand, the best works of Sir Antony Mark David Gormley include a public sculpture in North of England’s Gateshead and the Angel of the North.
Research Question
Are Henry Moore’s contributions to art better than Antony Gormley’s contributions?
Thesis Statement
Henry Moore and Antony Gormley are two great British sculptors. It is difficult to say whose sculptures are better than the other.
Argument
My argument is that Henry Moore’s forms are mostly abstractions of the human figures. Almost all of them depict reclining figures or mother-and-child relationship. A couple of works are suggestive of the female body, highlighting different emotions of society and the way we take women. On the other hand, in his artworks, Antony Gormley has beautifully examined different aspects of human presence in the world; for this purpose, he placed multiple figures within a cityscape or landscape. So, it is next to impossible to say that Henry’s works are better than Antony’s works. We have to admit that both of them have contributed to art in their distinctive ways and have presented various interesting things or artworks to the world to explore and to get inspired. I will make the wise and careful use of my sources to prove that both of them are the finest British sculptors and that their figures or artworks have a lot to learn from.
Annotated Bibliography
Hughes, Henry Meyric. “The Promotion and Reception of British Sculpture Abroad, 1948–1960: Herbert Read, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, and the ‘Young British Sculptors.’” British Art Studies, no. 3 (2016). https://doi.org/10.17658/issn.2058-5462/issue-03/hmhughes.
This source contains useful information on how British sculptors contributed to the fields of art, craft and design and what types of artworks or sculptors they presented during their particular periods. The main focus will obviously be on Henry Moore and Antony Gormley since these are two of the finest sculptors of the history and their works have a lot of similarities.
