Usability Testing
Usability training for TUI course developers and usability testing of their courses In your paper, you are to present your recommendations for how the full-time TUI faculty charged with course development and maintenance should be trained in usability principles and how the usability of their products (individual courses) should be tested and monitored. Remember that all TUI courses are structured within the same five-module learning structure, consisting of introduction, case, background, and project, even though there may be considerable variation in how these are implemented across courses and faculty. Please feel free to draw upon specific courses that you may have had for illustrations as necessary. The more specific you can be about what the training should consist of and what resources can be used in it, the better.

Trident offers a wide range of fulltime courses on the premises as well as online. Designing the courses that span from the degree level to the PhDs requires that the material is assessed on the various levels of usability. This paper addresses the various aspects that all the designers should be trained on to ensure that the courses applicable with close reference to usability.
Usability testing is one of the most crucial aspects of the customer or recipient centered products. It is important as it gives the designers of the various products such courses, programs and gadgets the edge of telling just how much the users of their products are benefiting. If there are changes to be implemented, they come from the test results of the said course. There are various usability principles that every other program designers should implement during their training, testing and in the monitoring stages.
For the course designers it is crucial that they have included the principle of enhanced interactivity. This means that the course should provide the ability of interacting with the content in the most innovative ways. This also means that the content should have very finite tasks. In most of the courses the tasks are clumped up together, making it a daunting task for the learners to discern the content that they need at any one time for the progressive process. Given that the courses have an introduction, the case studies, background and the project (Chisnell, 2009). Different element of the content should be evenly distributed to these stages, in manner that is easy for the learners to interact with and understand with great ease. At the same time, the course should have the element of consistency. This is a principle that every other course should exhibit in light of the learners’ ability to relate with the content. Every other trainer should understand that they have the task of helping the learners sustain a good measure of control. When the learners feel that they are in control of the content and the manner in which they can grasp the ideas being brought across to them, they will not only feel confident in the their abilities, but will also be more receptive of the new ideas.
Whenever there is a new idea floated around, and the recipient feels that they do not have a consistent ability to relate, they most likely will shut off. It is also crucial that the course and the training follow the principle of simplicity. If the course design is such that, it creates difficulty that is unwarranted, the recipients are bound to feel intimidated by the content. Where the content has an element of complexity, the trainers have to come up with ways of making sure that the content is simple enough for the learners to understand. At the same time the courses have to be self-explanatory. This means that the content has t...
