Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
In the past decade the sustainable design movement has ventured into codifying a recognized approach for evaluating and implementing what it entails for a building to be green(Caroline,2008). The LEED Green Building Rating System (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) has under the auspices of United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has devised various methods intended to measure sustainable design. This is to ensure that the contractors and building developers are able to design work places and buildings in accordance with the green technology. In order to achieve this USGBC has devised several LEED tools and products to preserve, maintain and restore buildings without with the minimal harm to the environment. Through this program, several projects have been implemented to enhance sustainable designs on buildings, historical preservation at the same time identifying the potential conflicts in order to implement complementary programs (Caroline...
