Introduction
The methods that govern technology have changed with technological advances, whereby past computer networks used to rely on centralized mainframes as access points for information. There are organizations which still rely on these approaches, but many are increasingly adopting the net-centric approach. This model is characterized with distributing data through localized management, with less focus on the central server topology. Essentially, there is no central server as the topology is different from the traditional system architecture. The “10 Principles of Effective Information Management” by James Roberson can be utilized to understand how these people centric principles are applicable in computer networks.

Recognize and manage complexity
The management needs to understand the environment well, and technology can bring about complexities in the workplace, and hence it is necessary to look into ways through which to manage these complexities. Essentially, distributed computing helps to reduce complexities and offer flexibility, with the management keen on understanding their work environment.
Focus on adoption
When adopting use of technology, it is necessary for the staff to be well versed in the technology, as opposed to simply installing software when there is no active participation of the staff (Robertson, 2005). Essentially, staff should work as a team as the net centric approach works well when employees adapt to the new approach. The staff also works in parallel to achieve the same goal, and the network of nodes allows them to accomplish this than if they relied on a single node.
Deliver tangible and visible benefits
The third principle focuses on the need to identify business needs, so that it is easier to assess tangible benefits. It is easier to assess impact of tangible benefits in net-centric networking as the approach relies on industry standards. Essentially, the industry standards complement and support the Net-centric model for data centric applications and database requirements
Priorities according to business needs
This principle highlights on the need to tackle urgent needs first especially when planning on information management. The technology strategy should be adhered to, while it is essential to provide measurable benefits that would improve the organization (Dai, 2007). Thus, business needs are taken into consideration in network deployment, as network practices should be well suited to the organizational business needs.
