The IEEE Computer Society is one of the largest societies that enhance computer applications. For all the students that are studying computers and the varying applications, these societies are vey crucial as a resource. They can be in a position to relate the applications that a computer can run through the theories and the practical bit of the study (Side Point, 2014). This is crucial not just for the students, but also for the companies that are going to apply technology in their work place. For the effectiveness in the applications and the training purposes linked with the computers and related technologies at work, these societies and organisation come in handy.
The structure of the website is quite basic and most of the sites that have this kind of recourses are more or less the same. At the top of the page is the page header, which carries the information about the site. This means that, the organisation’s name appears at the header alongside motto of the society. At the same time, towards the top right corners there are tabs that would allow all the users and the members to access the various aspects of the portal, such as home, store, help, maps, contacts and the login. There is also a search bar where the users can access more material if they needed in depth information or specific information regarding software engineering, related technologies and their application (IEEE Computer Society, 2014). Right below the header is the navigation pane, which is organised into the main sections of the society indicating the main functions. Through the drop down tabs, the users can then access more information about their topic of choice. The body is also split into small portions that are like side bars, where different segments of the society can be accessed by the users on the site. The left pane has three parts that include the news part, conferences and the awards part. The news section mostly has the new development in the industry which can assist the readers in keeping up with the current affairs in the technology arena. The conferences section relates to the upcoming conferences and the awards section relates to the news on the various recognitions in the industry. The central pane has three portions as well where the webinars, innovations and the featured stories are brought out. The right pane has some quick links to the site and the social media for users to share and access information on the site. There is also a section that highlights on the upcoming events as a quick brief where the users can look at them at a glance and view the details.
