Indeed, every field presents its necessities and needs that motivate experts in the respective professions to make essential discoveries. For example, the healthcare sector has shown a compelling need to develop technological innovations that will solve some of the current challenges that hinder service delivery to patients.
Drone-delivered medical supplies could be the next most prominent breakthrough in the healthcare field. The idea is linked to David Abney of UPS (United Parcel Service), an American logistics company. Scott and Scott (2020) note two previous UPS trials, where the company used autonomous drone deliveries for crucial medical supplies such as tissue or blood. They were done between two branches of a Raleigh-based hospital using a Flight Forward, its corresponding trial program.
Massive medical emergencies have characterized recent years in the wake of increasing infections of infectious diseases. Besides, non-communicable illnesses have increased exponentially because of people's lifestyles. Hospitals store most of the essential supplies in the health facilities' main branches, requiring the satellite branches to either call for them based on need or transfer patients via ambulances.
