Agents of socialization
Socialization is the process of establishing on a socialist basis how to learn from other people. As seen in the CD, The Way We Live (2005), socialization helps individuals to learn about how to function successfully in the social world. A popular saying goes, no man is an Island, human beings are social beings and one should therefore learn how to socialize with other people. There is need to understand how the process of socialization occurs, how one can use objects of the society's material culture as agents of socialization, lastly, we need to know how we can come to adopt the various beliefs, norms, and values about socialization based on non material cultures. This knowledge can only be acquired through physical interaction with various agents of socialization. As we can see from the CD, The Way We Live (2005), there are several agents of socialization such as families and peer groups in conjunction with both formal and informal social fields and institutions such as schools.
