You have been assigned this case. Demonstrate and analyze FOUR (4) needs of the family that requires your immediate attention and follow up. Identify and explain how would you use any ONE (1) principle of Saleebey’s Strengths Perspective during your intervention stage with the family.
The family's four needs that require my immediate attention and follow up are education, money (financial security), friendship (love), and emotional security. These needs are primarily secondary needs identified from the case study. The first need is education, given that the family has three school-going children: Alvin (18), Brian (16) and Cathy (12). The second need is financial security since the family needs money to cater for their children's education. The third need is friendship (love). Mr Ivan Ho used to provide love and friendship while he worked as a shipping manager. However, he no longer has time for Brian whose is going through emotional distress. Brian needs love and friendship more than before to help him navigate through the emotional pain. Brian's emotional distress is causing him to engage in physical fights and lose interest in schooling, as suggested by his late submission of homework. Mr Ivan's job loss is causing emotional insecurity since he was the sole breadwinner for the family.
