Introduction
Social workers must abide by a code of ethics to guide their practice. The Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW) upholds ethics. It establishes ethical requirements for customers, coworkers, practice surroundings, the profession of social work, and the community. I will use case studies in this article to demonstrate how to apply the ethical standards of accountability to my everyday conversations with patients and their families.
Client Obligation
Assistance companies are morally obligated to prioritize client happiness and mental health. Social support workers are responsible for advocating for their clients' independence, autonomy, and respect. It is also essential to avoid violating the privacy of others, exceeding boundaries in the workplace, and conducting yourself in a way that creates an imbalance of interests (RIPPLEMATCH TEAM, 2023). In this case, Mrs. Lim, a 70-year-old widow who had lost her husband, experiences trouble transitioning. She was referred to me for bereavement therapy. I will respect Mrs. Lim's autonomy, maintain professional limits, and work in her best interest. I'll assist her in coping with her loss by listening to her concerns, encouraging her to express her thoughts, and supporting her.
Colleagues' Duty
Social service providers must treat their coworkers with dignity and competence, share knowledge and skills, and collaborate to achieve their objectives. Social workers should discuss ethical or professional concerns with other staff members respectfully and respectfully (University of Nevada, 2020). I am employed by a medical facility with a multidisciplinary staff of physicians, nurses, and others. I will collaborate with my colleagues to produce the best patient results by communicating well, respecting their positions, and collaborating. I'll talk to my coworkers about ethical or professional issues respectfully and constructively.
