Discussion: Is Sexual Convergence a Good thing for Women?

Sexual Convergence  “Gender convergence, [is] an ever increasing similarity in how men and women live and what they want for their lives” (Cohen, 2007). This is a great thing for women, who have been socially disadvantaged for a long time. Finally, their male counterparts are now able to see them as an active partner in a relationship, as well as gain respect for their points of view. Sexual convergence is advantageous for the society as a whole because it is the first step towards real sexual equity – where males and females are treated based on the differences of their needs.             Of course, one has to realize also that every change has both its advantages and disadvantages. Sexual convergence will benefit women as long as they remain childless, because when another human being comes into the equation, gender roles become effective.
