According to Fidler’s contingency theory, a leadership style can be described as task-motivated or relationship motivated (p. 472). In the case of Chick-Fil- A, the relationship is task-motivated since the company focuses on achieving its goals. There are high chances that the company does not focus on empowering the employees. Employees are supposed to subject themselves to the company authority and carry out their duties without questioning. Even though the leadership style used by Chick-Fil-A has helped the company to achieve its goals and even surpass major competitors such as Starbucks, employee empowerment would make the company popular and outstanding.
