The term “terrorism” became known after the 9/11 attacks. People previously knew more about violence and conflicts than terrorism, but now, the situation has been changed. People from the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia call a person “terrorist” if he is directly or indirectly involved in mass shootings. The recent waves of mass shootings in France, London, Colorado, Oregon, California and South Carolina have provoked a debate about religious terrorists and fundamentalists. In a sense, fundamentalism is the political misuse of religion, and there is no doubt that most extremists from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other parts of the world are fundamentalists. Today, a large number of religious scholars are said to be involved in terrorism. For instance, Muslim and Hindu extremists want to dominate the world. For this purpose, they murder innocent people in a large number and oppose those who refuse to embrace their religions. Similarly, Christians and Jewish want the world to follow their footsteps (New, 2002).
If someone doesn’t pay attention to what they are saying, he is killed or given tough times in one way or the other. Is it correct to take lives in the name of religion? We would have to admit that no religion allows its followers to kill innocent people. But it looks like those extremists have nothing to do with humanity; what they want is dominance across the globe, and for this, they often threaten the governments or the public to do what they want, or else they will be killed.
