Restorative justice is also an approach different from punishing the offender because of their crimes. The law can punish the offender by legal means, compensate for their crimes, and spend time in prison. In restorative justice both the victim and offender need to approve to meet each other in a meeting. The goal of this restorative justice is to heal the pain and trauma that the offender has done to the victim (Heath, n.d.).
In the question of what degree offenders and victims are suitable candidates for face-to-face meetings, it all depends on whether both parties are willing to forgive each other.
