Question.
By 2030, one in four Singaporeans will be of age 65 years old and above. Singapore government have been redesigning the infrastructure and technology, ensuring optimal physical and mental well-being, emphasis on continuity of care provision, etc. all in the attempt to advocate health living and active ageing. Are we ready to meet the needs of our elderly so as they are able to stay independent in their own homes, maintain a good quality of life with also having the support from caregivers, family members and community? “It is often said that it takes a village to raise a child. Similarly, it takes a community to care for the aged.”

Eldercare Policies
Action Plan Policy for Successful Ageing
A multi-sectoral initiative called the Action Plan for Good Aging addresses elders' needs on all levels. The strategy calls for actions to advance social inclusion and engagement, lifelong learning opportunities, increased employability, and increased financial stability (Hillier & Barrow, 2014). The strategy also stresses the significance of creating an atmosphere that is supportive of carers and allows elders to age in place.
Eldercare Masterplan Policy
Another initiative that tries to offer elders with affordable and accessible care is the Eldercare Masterplan. The strategy focuses on increasing the quality and cost of eldercare services, strengthening carer capacities and training, and creating a complete framework for community care (Hillier & Barrow, 2014). The Eldercare Masterplan is a comprehensive policy framework designed to meet the different requirements of Singapore's elderly.
