2. Address the following question using a scenario-planning approach. “Will Canadian restaurants see an increase or a decrease in dine-in customers over the next five years?” Assume regular (non-pandemic) conditions. (15 marks total)
- List one factor in each of the following areas that could impact in-person dining at Canadian restaurants. In each case explain whether the factor is likely to result in an increase or a decrease in in-person dining. (6 marks)

An increase in tax or a decrease in minimum wage would decrease the customer turn out at the Canadian restaurant and vice versa. People will have less money to spend on restaurants and will reduce their spending by changing their meal budget or avoid going there all together.

Additionally, an implementation of a faster order taking technology will lead to speedier service that will in turn encourage more customers to have in-person dining at the restaurant. An increase in the fertility rate of the population will lead to higher birth rates that will in turn leads to higher populations. Ultimately, the restaurant will see higher numbers in time due to a higher population. A regulation banning beef selling at the restaurant will lead to lower numbers as the customers who love beef will look for alternatives. Ultimately there will be lower in-person dining numbers.
