Performing a Holistic Assessment using PIE
The PIE perspective suggests there are complex factors that shape an individual. As individuals interact with their environment, they become increasingly complex (Littman, 2021). As a social worker in Singapore, I would use the PIE perspective to conduct a comprehensive and holistic assessment of the individual. Particularly, I would use it to assess person factors, environmental aspects, and interaction with the two.
Person Factors
The starting step of carrying out the assessment would be understanding an individual’s personal attributes. These include aspects such as age, education, gender, race, and occupation. With a grasp of the personal attributes, one can gain a basic understanding of the individual (Leary & Tsui, 2021).
