This is Doris post that professor is asking about
The Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior assessment, also known as the FIRO-B test, is a unique instrument that is not used to measure anything (2018). Instead, it is used to get a score of how comfortable a client or individual is with a particular behavior. The main components of the Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior assessment include Inclusion, Control, and Affection. All of these areas or components can be modified with two different factors: Wanted Behavior and Expressed Behavior. It’s safe to say that this assessment can be used or relied on to understand how to interact with others in a better way because the Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior assessment helps us focus on our own behaviors as well as the reactions of others. Depending on their reactions, we can change our behaviors in order to make the communication process smooth.

3 Andre The FIRO- B is an assessment tool that assesses one’s interpersonal relationships and behaviors by examining the interactions of how one expresses themselves and their expectations in relationships. This tool is structured by collecting data in three areas of interpersonal functioning. The FIRO-B is based on the idea that there are three core needs that drive our relationships with other people. These areas are Inclusion, Control and Affection (Kendall & King, 2017). Each of these three areas evaluates one’s expressed and one’s wanted behaviors in their interpersonal relationships.
FIRO-B assessments can lead to a better understand of interacting with others by helping the coaches gain insight into one’s goals and what one is willing to invest in their relationships. This is important as it can reveal the sources of anxiety and fears that affect their interactions with others. It also can reveal problems with communicating those needs which can negatively affect their relationships.

7-2 question For what situations would the Firo-B assessment be most appropriate or applicable for? How is this similar and different from the CPI assessment?
6 Andre The usefulness of the FIRO-B is in its ability to identify self-defeating behaviors in interpersonal relationships, and identify new coping skills to obtain desired results (Kendall & King, 2017). It also assesses one’s self-concept and how that motivates behavior in those relationships. This makes it a useful assessment tool when the coaches presents issues with lack of self-esteem as a factor that hinders one’s effectiveness. It could be utilized when the coachee reaches a “sticking point” in their progress as it can help reveal areas in which they can change their perspectives on those situations and empower themselves.FIRO-B is similar to the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) in that both measure and evaluate interpersonal behavior. The difference is that FIRO-B is primarily behavior focused. The CPI focuses on behavior as it relates to interpersonal aspects of personality, internal value and normative expectations, achievement needs and cognitive tendencies and stylistic preferences (Gough & Bradley, 1996). FIRO-B is behavioral based, CPI is personality based.
