The significance of Information Technology in business growth and development cannot be underestimated. The face of the modern business has continually changed because of the dramatic transformation that IT has brought, and significantly affected how different companies develop their products, how they market them, as well as improved communication. Today we have specialized and customized software that shape and improve industry standards and best practices. Information technology has also permeated the production, where modern companies are making great leaps and strides in effectiveness and efficiency of the human resource and other operations. ( Tansley 2003) Information Technology therefore, distinguishes companies by revolutionizing the rules of business, and consequently increasing structural enterprise transformation.
-How can IT create systems to help the business if all businesses have access to the same hardware and software?
From manufacturing to telecommunication, from finance to transportation, business success is majorly pegged on effective utilization of information technology to the escalation of productivity. IT helps business to develop systems and structures that optimize business performance and give those businesses a competitive edge. IT strategy as a system for instance helps business to leverage on Information Technology in planning and business innovation, to establish strategic IT road maps and architectures. Value transformation is integral also where, operations, propositions, value, financial results, are orchestrated through information technology. Organization as a structure ensures that a business mission and role are designed more effectively helps in identification of new people, talents and importantly, management practices ( Bott, 2005)
