Between the 17th and 19th century the young men of nobility in Europe made Grand Tour in search of art and culture that shaped Modern Europe. Similarly, the art of impressionism grew in the 19th century from Paris, but the United States of America had pockets of artists representing Ancient Culture in the country. Stereotyping was common in the era that European art was the finest. Ethnocentrism could be another reason as the European nobility engaged in leisure, but the artwork left lasting legacies.
After World War 2, America grew in importance in other areas, having better infrastructure that could hold various sports than war ravaged Europe. Europe was no longer a favorite destination of mass tourism, but tourism and recreation would later grow after reconstruction. The Olympic Games held in Europe show coincided with an era where there was conspicuous consumption in a typical American family like in other modern societies. Better communication has enabled scholars to determine the value of attitude and intrinsic reward of art in the modern world.
PART B
The ethnic joke captures the difference between heaven and hell depending on the occupations that different nationalities have in the two places. In heaven, there are English police, French chefs, German mechanics, Swiss administrators, and Italian lovers. On the other hand, hell has English chefs, French mechanics, Italian administrators, and Swiss lovers. The stereotypes in heaven highlight what other nationalities think the aforementioned nationalities are good at. The stereotypes depicted surrounding hell show where other nationalities do not have good skills to excel in those departments.
