Scholars are peculiar people and the perfect example of their peculiarity is the development of an application that simplifies their work. Specifically, the online university library experience has blown me out of my mind. This owes to the reality that using the online university library enables the user to search for scholarly resources based on the user’s needs. Specifically, the online university library allows the users to limit a search based on the year of publication, subject, author, title, and type of publication. Regardless, the researcher still has to put in a considerable effort to obtain the desired resources. This owes to the fact that the researcher must develop a search strategy and evaluate the resources individually. The upcoming paragraphs discuss the concerns encountered and how the online university library has improved my experience in conducting research.
According to Soria et al., (2013), university libraries should seek to identify factors beyond the customer service-type frameworks. Critical to the discussion is the fact that I noticed something that could be improved on the online university library. Specifically, the online university library is not as user friendly as most current applications. Consider Google or Microsoft Word. In using such applications, the user does not require human intervention such as a librarian. Additionally, the user does not need to read guidelines in order to use the applications because the user can identify the functionality of certain icons just by pointing the mouse at the icon. Additionally, the applications have online communities that discuss problems and solutions to problems faced when using the applications. It follows that my major concern in using the online university library was its interaction with the user....
