In an inspiring speech presented in 1854, Chief Seattle is quoted to have said, “The Earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the Earth (Green Vision, 2015).” These words meant that humans have no role in creating and sustaining the Earth, but the Earth does the creation and sustains us. Instead of attempting to have control and dominance over the Earth, humans must respect the Earth and their fellow creatures, including plants and animals. A change of consciousness to this way of thinking might adversely change the way we treat the Earth and its inhabitants. For instance, the notion that the Earth belongs to us creates political and monetary system with boundaries and artificial values (National Geographic, 2018). These values lead to division and discrimination of humanity against the environment.
