Research
For this discussion, you will conduct an Internet search on your topic, and locate two items of data on your topic to share and discuss with your peers. Duplicate research cannot be accepted, so post early! For ideas of how to get started, navigate back to the discussion instructions.
Initial Post
Once you have completed your research, return to your group to complete your post. In your initial post, be sure to:
Comment on your selection of topic. Why did you choose this topic?
Provide your two items of data and give a written description explaining in plain language what the information means (for example, “poverty is increasing among urban children”). You may cut and paste text (be sure to use “quotes”) or tables from source web pages. Be sure to cite your sources!
To wrap it up, apply at least one sociological theory that explains the patterns See Section 9.4 in your text. In addition to Functionalism and Symbolic Interaction, you may use Conflict Theory as well. Refer to Chapter 1, section 1.3 to refresh your understanding of these theories.
Note: Analysis is the process of breaking a complex topic into smaller parts and then investigating the relationships of these parts to each other and how they work together to make up the whole. Don’t forget to use terms, concepts, and information from your text.

Distribution of Wealth in the U.S.
Wealth inequality in the US is a pressing issue representing economic and social disparities. Financial distribution influences social structures, community dynamics, and individual well-being. Symbolic interactionism, Functionalism, and Conflict Theory are a few sociological theories I plan to use in the data on wealth distribution to comprehend the consequences and patterns fully.
Two Items of Data
Income Inequality Metrics
A recent census indicated that the richest 1% of U.S. income earners own a disproportionate percentage of the nation's wealth, while the poorest 50% own less (Wolff, 2021). This reveals that a small minority controls most of the nation's economic resources. The riches of a few suggest an economic division. Income inequality can stratify society, limiting education, healthcare, and social mobility. This inequality may be due to societal roles that promote certain professions or skills more than others, according to Functionalism. Conflict Theory claims this unequal distribution generates societal conflict by benefiting a small group and hurting
