Politicians are often influenced by different variables when making decisions. There are several differences between the delegate and the trustee models of representation. The first difference is based on the freedom to express themselves. A trustee has the freedom to make choices based on their personal preferences (Piscitelli et al. 2022). They are selected by constituents who allow them or entrust them to make all their decisions. On the other hand, a delegate does not have the freedom to make decisions based on personal preferences. Instead, they have to act accordingly to the mandate of the voters.
