Immigrants who have just come to New York often suffer culture shock as they become accustomed to a new environment, customs, and social habits. This aspect is overwhelming and undermines their mental health, social integration, and overall well-being. Social workers help to resolve such problems with the use of several approaches at different levels, including group level; community level; and organizational. Therefore, this paper seeks to investigate the culture shock that these immigrants will face; a suitable approach for such cases, and social workers' roles in finding a solution. It is, therefore, found that the community-based approach is most effective in dealing with cultural shock received by recently arrived immigrants living in New York. This strategy recognizes that individuals are interdependent in a social setting and reiterates the importance of establishing conditions that support them.
