It is true that ethical mindfulness entails displaying moral attitudes at all times and being conscious of our actions especially when faced with ethical dilemmas (Sheperis, Young, & Daniels, 2016). A counselor can incorporate research into clinical practice by using research-based counseling experiences and updating their knowledge on the latest strategies to remain competent in her practice (Wosket, 2016).

It is true that contemporary standards of practices require detailed review of professional literature to understand new theories, clinical intervention and evaluate how useful and proper they can be applied within the routine clinical procedures. Contemporary standard practices need to understand the effects of these theories on both patients and the counselor.
