2.1: Reply to Professor
I find it impressive that your comments does connect with my original comments. As I stated earlier, solution-focused coaching is a compelling model because it can be used in psychotherapy to counsel drug addicts (King, Schwellnus, Servais, & Baldwin, 2019. The model is popular because the model focuses on finding solutions instead of the problems. This model assists addict to cope with substance abuse. For instance, therapists can use this model to assist addicts imagine the future they would wish to create and create realistic steps that can help them deal with addiction (Gray, Garvey, & Lane, 2016). With this model, therapists can be able to assist clients to identify their strengths out their substance abuse. For example, if clients are good at buying and selling of drugs, therapists can complement their entrepreneurial spirit to show them that they can redirect the skills towards positive things.
Reply to Demetra
This is an interesting approach Demetra. I agree with you that the SF model gives a coach an opportunity to bring solutions of the problem instead of concentrating on the problems only. However it is crucial for the coach and coachee to agree on how they can attain the desired goals. After identifying the problem, the coach should be aware of the decisions that are supposed to be made (King, Schwellnus, Servais, & Baldwin, 2019). Re-evaluation is necessary because the client might want to develop new behaviors to achieve the goal of change (Gray, Garvey, & Lane, 2016). I agree with you that the reward system is beneficial in this model because clients can be motivated to change very fast.
