Assessment of Family Member’s Individual Housing Situation, 100 Points/10% of class grade
Choose an older family member living in the community or in a long term care alternative. Write a 3-4 page (750-1,000 word) personal, reflective paper assessing your relative’s individual housing situation. No citations or references are needed as you are expected to write about your personal observations of this situation. Answer these questions:
1. How old are they, and How is the physical space working with their functional needs? 2. How long have they lived there, and How old is the home?
3. What is their income level, and How does this housing arrangement work within their financial standing?
4. With whom do they live, if anyone, and How would they be cared for in an emergency? 5. Do you think this is the right place for them, or what would you suggest instead?

Assessment of Family Member’s Individual Housing Situation
Lottie is an elderly family member in her 60s’. By august next year, she will be celebrating her 68th birthday. One of the unique aspects about her is that Lottie is always cheerful and often engaged in some activities. It seems that she never lacks something to do to remain as active as possible. Their integration is critical because she often uses them as support while going to the rooms upstairs or coming down to the living area. She mentioned one time that in the past, she barely noticed them. However, she acknowledges their value today because they assist her in avoiding exerting her body. The house has many other modifications uncommon in conventional settings, including a grab bar and a shower adjustable to the user’s height. I found these unique elements perfect for her because she has reached an age where her home should incorporate assisting devices. The other unique...
