New Hemisphere has entered the books of America's political history despite being one of the smallest states in the country, bearing only four electoral votes. The state is regarded as the birthplace of the modern election process used to nominate parties flagbearers in the presidential election, that is, the primaries (Hotelconcord, n.d.). The other alternative means of nominating presidential flagbearers adopted in American is the caucuses but is not as popular as the primaries option. Primaries are held using a secret ballot at the state level and at stake is the election of party delegates to represent the parties electorates from that particular state at the parties' national convention. At the national convention, the candidate with the most delegates who were elected in the primaries emerges as the flagbearer for the presidential election for that particular party (Library of Congress, n.d.).
