Theological Statement
This theological statement will explore core Christian beliefs about God, creation, sin, salvation, the church, and the sacraments. It starts with considering how God manifests himself through Scripture, nature, Jesus Christ, and prayer. The paper then studies Genesis' account of creation, explaining that it shows God's power and love. Then, it describes sin and its source, saying that God pardons sin through Christ's sacrifice. The concept of salvation through Christ and the sanctification process are articulated. The paper continues to liken the church to a family and baptism and communion, sacraments that Jesus gave to symbolize belonging to him and remembering his sacrifice as gifts.
Knowledge of God/Revelation/Scripture
I believe that God reveals himself to us through various ways. One way is through the bible. Reading the scriptures, we understand who God is and how powerful and mighty he is. There are so many teachings that talk about God. God loves us, and he wants us to know him. Another way that God reveals himself is through the work of nature. He created the heavens and earth and everything in it. Everything around us is the work of God himself. Nature is beautiful, and when we look around, we learn more about God through his work (Vanhoozer, 2021). God also reveals himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ. God sent his only begotten son to live as a human. Through how Jesus lived and taught, we learn more about God and what he is like. We also get to know more about God through prayers. When we seek God through prayers, we get closer to him, allowing us to talk and listen to his voice. God possesses a lot of knowledge. He calls us to have a relationship with him so he can shower us with his grace and love as we seek to know and walk with him.
Creation/Providence
I believe God created the world and everything in it, as the bible states in the book of Genesis Chapter 1. God created the whole world by word of mouth. Everything that he created was good, and he was pleased with it. God started by creating the heaven and the earth. He later created light and darkness, the sky, the land and seas, the vegetation, the stars, the sea creatures, the birds, and living creatures. Lastly, God created man and made him in his image and likeness. He gave him the authority to rule over everything that he had created. The whole ac...
