Personalities: March 9th Snow Day Assignment - This I Believe

      March 9^th Snow Day Assignment- This I Believe Name Institution Date               While people have differently those who are accomplished tend to be creative and motivated as they are willing to learn something new. In the “I believe” series different personalities emphasize their perspectives from Bill Gates who addresses innovation and creativity to Michael Mullane who believes there is enough support for the legitimacy rule of law. Different people have different principles that guide their lives, and the personalities emphasized the importance of learning and observation.  Civic duties and values influence how and why people make decisions and many have their own personal philosophy and sharing this with a wide audience provides insights on their values thoughts and observations. The four essays both highlight the importance of value, but they also challenge the readers’ assumptions as they are urged to be keen learners and observers. My favorite essay was Azar Nafisi’s “Mysterious connections that link us together”. Nafisi argues that empathy links people together despite their differences and is important in personal relationships.  Nafisi uses her personal experience in Iran, the literary example of Huck Finn and world events like the war in Darfur Sudan and Kabul, Afghanistan. Literature is a universal language that can teach empathy and Nafisi emphasizes the importance of empathy in dialogue and personal relationships.  The writer is also a teacher, who was forced out of an Iranian university in the 1980’s, but those who supported were surprisingly her critics who she had debated with before expulsion. If people use their imagination, then they are more likely to transcend their limitations and understand people different from them....
