The principal argument of this editorial is whether God is omnipotent despite the evil and suffering human beings endure in their lives. The author argues that God is astute, good and powerful and despite the existence of evil, he has a reason for everything and evil exists for the glory of this name while others consider God as powerless and evil (Myers, 1990, pp. 1).
The key concept(s) we need to understand in the article are:
The article’s primary ideas are that evil and suffering exist because the nature of God limits him, due to the nature of the universe which when abused causes suffering and pain and due to lack of consistency and faithfulness to the laws. Also, suffering is not always evil as it helps an individual observe the world differently, it is corrective, and it builds character. Additionally, it occurs because men live in the world together and a man’s existence is towards heaven (Myers, 1990, pp. 6-10).
