Confucian ethics emphasize human relationships, which begin with the family, an idealized model for other types of relationships. Basically, it argues that fraternal love and filial piety are fundamental in human relationships since they serve as the foundation of human morality. In particular, filial piety entails taking care of an individual’s parents and being good to them. A person is supposed to respect his or her ancestors and parents. Based on a Confucian, the most significant way to realize the meaning of life is not via mental belief or religion, but through moral self-transformation, self-cultivation, and the commitment to improve the welfare of society, family, and community. The paper focuses on Confucian ethics and its modern relevance by analyzing the core ethical Confucianism principles and their applicability in contemporary society.
Confucianism originated in China and has existed for more than 2,500 years. This religious philosophy is usually concerned with morality, respect, and virtue for society and its values.
