Social media addiction causes several mental health issues, including but not limited to low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety (Albikawi, 2023). From a future practicing psychologist view, considering the still burning passion for cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and humanistic psychology, my solution is a mix approach to tackle this ever-growing issue, by creating programs that educate youths to change the way they relate with technological advancements. The foundation of my approach will be CBT and humanistic psychology integration. CBT, which consists of the structured, problem-oriented and attempting to identify the dysfunctional thoughts and behavior, gives rational skills to the social media addicted individuals. Also, the holistic perception of the individual as opposed to the study of his behavior is the assumption underlying humanistic psychology (Robbins, 2021).
