Unit 5 Discussion- Clinical Application, Supervision and Management

For this week's discussion, you may choose either A or B of the following postings, making sure to address your responses with professionalism and confidentiality. A. Consider a personal experience in which a supervisor provided you with feedback related to your performance. Briefly describe the experience and discuss whether the feedback was provided in an evidence-based manner as outlined in Chapter 6 of The Supervisor's Guidebook. Then, following the steps for providing feedback, outline an example of how your supervisor should have provided feedback in a way that is reflective of this evidence-based approach. Finally, explain how reframing this feedback experience will help you be a more effective supervisor to others in your work (parents, direct support, classroom staff, etc.). B. Consider your current supervisor and review the Appendix that is provided in the Sellers, et al (2016) article "Recommended Practices for Individual Supervision of Aspiring Behavior Analysts."(https://www(dot)ncbi(dot)nlm(dot)nih(dot)gov/pmc/articles/PMC5118252/) After identifying an area you think is relevant for providing feedback to your supervisor and describing a brief example of a related personal experience, use the evidence-based process outlined in Chapter 6 of The Supervisor's Guidebook to formulate an example of how to communicate feedback to your supervisor. Finally, explain how using this process to provide feedback to your supervisor will help you be a more effective trainee and improve your supervision experience.
