It is important to note that these two human reaction processes involve neurons, receptors, and the brain, which interprets external stimuli and sensory information (Silva, 2020). One of the similarities between visual and auditory information processing is that both occur through a neural pathway reactionary process that involves sensory receptors, cortical and reflexes to process the external information entering the vision and auditory organs (Silva, 2020). This helps the brain read and interpret these external stimuli into visual and audio signals. Moreover, both the visual and auditory organs use their respective cortical and relay neurons to change the external information entering these organs and convert them into sensory internal information interpreted by the nervous system into sound and visual waves (Atilgan et al., 2018). These waves are converted into neural signals transferred to the mind and distinguished into distinctive features. It is worth noting that the external stimuli are changed through a hierarchical process through which the brain extracts sound or pitch for auditory perception and shape or colour for visual perception.
