The idea that humanistic psychology offers a description of humans more positively than the facts warrant holds some weight. While there is nothing wrong with emphasizing the positive aspects of human nature, this might not capture the entirety of human experiences. To a larger extent, humanistic psychology ignores the contribution of other schools of thought like psychoanalysis and behaviorism. Human psychologists consider behaviourists to be over-concerned with the scientific study of the actions of humans while neglecting the most important aspects like feelings. Humanists take an issue with the deterministic orientation of psychoanalysis which proposes that early experiences and drives determine the behavior of individuals.
