Dean Keech’s Monday visit was very illuminating for me; it made me think about my career in the healthcare sector and also my life. Arguably, the subject of death and sickness is often a very sad and in many cases, most people do not always like discussing it. Dean Keech’s talk, however, gave me another view of how to handle such situations and how merely being an informed caregiver could be the missing piece to making a difference in someone’s life. First I learnt that as a carer, I should always be honest with my patients. However, this does not mean disclosing information pertaining to a patient’s health; which I am not authorized to give.
