Deviance and Social Typing
Societies constitute different kinds of people and have behaviors they term acceptable and others unacceptable, with unwritten rules called norms. The social typing process determines how society treats people categorized due to difference in the acceptable way of behavior (Bereska, 2013). The process involves three stages, description, prescription, and deviance. The description is the labeling after an unpleasant behavior, which proceeds to evaluate when the person is judged by a mocking word or name. Prescription aims at controlling the individual to fit into society. Deviance is doing the unnatural acts that do not fit the society standards.
