Describe and Critique (Nicely!) The Mother's Actions
Based On What You Have Learned Thus Far, Describe and Critique (Nicely!) The Mother's Actions
The mother's action displays several virtues, like patience. The mother respects Lily's sentiments and gives her room to express her emotions by enabling her to cry and communicate how she feels. Demonstrates the mother's concern and awareness, acknowledging that occasionally kids must let out their feelings before they can carry on. Mother's idea to use block play as a diversion is also good. The mother allows Lily to change her attention and enjoy playing with the blocks by including her in something different. Lily can change her mood from one depressed to one that is more cheerful with this diversion.
It might be helpful for the mother to keep recognizing Lily's sentiments once the crying has stopped, so long as her behaviors are constructively criticized. Lily's attitude may have been partially lifted by playing with blocks, but the mother needs to consider what had made Lily upset in the first place.
