From social distancing to a soaring rate of domestic violence as the main effect, children have borne the brunt of the crisis. Through the attention on developmental stages and cognitive and social development theories, we can see the complexities of the situation better (Benner & Mistry, 2020). This paper aims to concentrate on how children around the world have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and is also emphasizing how social workers in Florida, USA can help in their mental well-being and overall development. As children go through the different stages of development, they are presented with imminent challenges as well as opportunities which form their cognitive and social development. Toddlers of ages zero to two are in Jean Piaget’s sensorimotor stage, in which they learn through sensory experiences as well as motor movements.
