Identity has significantly empowered individuals to execute their responsibilities and right fairly in modern society. People's identity consists of the qualities, characteristics, and traits that define them. It entails several different features that people call the aspects of their identity. Conversely, a personal identity refers to the collection of specific classifying factors which someone develops over time that define who a person is. An individual's identity is unique since nobody owns a similar mix of memories, features, traits, habits, knowledge, and emotional personalities. Common examples of personal identity include gender, social class, tastes, beliefs, ethnicity, culture, personality, social status, and nationality. Numerous diverse aspects mold an individual's identity. Culture, family, friends, environment, and personal interest can form a person's identity. Culture and family can impact an individual's sense of ethics, morals, responsibilities, humor, and sports. This paper reflects my story about my identity as an Asian male.
Asian society has been significant in my life due to the social norms and beliefs it holds. For instance, Asia consists of heterogeneous groups even though they share common values. I still consider family central to life, which significantly impacts the decision-making process concerning people's health. Furthermore, to be considered a man, there are various masculinity traits I must work hard to achieve. I acknowledge that I must achieve masculine attributes such as a lot of money, a good job, having an active sex life, being a family man, controlling my own life, and evading shameful situations. I acknowledge that being a family man has significantly impacted my health. Research purports that parenthood and marriage are related to improved good health for both genders (men and women) (Linville, 1987). Also, society has affected my lifestyle since I'm not too fond of trends. The greatest trends I despise are rap and attitudes, clothing, and kind of speech, which this category of music is upbringing. I tend to move away from the crowd, although it might be possible as I live my life off adrenaline.
Also, I am an Asian individual with highly differentiated self-conceptions because I possess specialized identities. Specialized identities are essential as they allow individuals to respond adaptively and flexibly to diverse role needs that could enhance interpersonal relationships and running within roles. By being a differentiated self, I can effectively differentiate my feelings from thoughts and maintain my feelings and thoughts in an intimate relationship. On the other hand, stigmatized concealable identity is linked with increased accessibility in the division between private and public self-schemas. Usually, a concealable stigma is a socially marginalized feature not readily apparent to witnesses subsumed under a social identity (Sedlovskaya et al., 2013). These identities include marginal sexual orientation, history of mental illness, and minority religious or political beliefs. Individuals mainly show their stigmatized identities in private occasions like home, where they appear safe to be alone.
My high on life involves the energy I possess when I make sure my heart is pounding, my blood pumping, and my adrenaline strong. Several aspects of my individuality can testify to this fact. I am passionate about sports activities and gymnastics. This is because males sport for Asians is more essential than female sport, meaning I have to take these activities seriously. Some sports I can perfectly participate in and reach my highest level include basketball and soccer. Sports help me to maintain good health as today's world has become vulnerable to life-threatening health disorders. Additionally, I can get rid of excess weight. Following a healthy diet and participating in my favorite sport is essential to maintaining a healthy weight.
On the other hand, I have a solid set of morals and ethics which I have partially embraced from my guardians, even though some of these morals and ethics are partially my own. Many morals I adhere to comprise being caring and kind. Showing kindness toward others and myself has proved vital to my health and wellness. I understand that showing kindness to others supports my mental health, and being kind to myself plays a similar role. Engaging in meditation that fosters kindness and positivity to others and yourself has been noted to address social anxiety and depression when involved with cognitive behavioral thera...
