Since they are still developing, children and adolescents have different needs than adults; therefore, additional considerations are necessary when working with these populations. As a result, certain topics related to juveniles in the justice system have become controversial. For this week’s Discussion, you will select a controversial topic related to minors in the legal system that is consistent with your career goals, experience, and/or interests. You will use this opportunity to explore scholarly information about the topic and better understand the roles and responsibilities of forensic psychology professionals in this subspeciality area. Review this week’s Learning Resources to deepen your understanding of forensic psychology professionals and juveniles in the justice system. Based on your professional interests, choose one of the following controversial topics within forensic psychology related to juveniles: Ethical Issues in Treating Juvenile Offenders Nature vs. Nurture Transfer of Juveniles to Adult Court Another topic of your choice Use one of the articles from this week’s Learning Resources or search the Walden Library to find a peer-reviewed articles about the topic you selected.
