Tiered Interventions for Students with Developmental Disabilities
Tiered interventions are strategies developed to raise the support provided to each student depending on the type of needs they want. On top of that, tiered intervention is also called Response to Intervention (RTI). It is subdivided into tiers 1, 2, and 3. Tier 1 is a type of intervention that majors on the overall strategies adopted by the students of any education facility (Shepherd & Linn, 2014a). In addition, this process involves classroom management and a screening process to identify the number of students likely to face any risk. Tier 2 takes place to help those students who do not show any sign of progress after Tier 1 (Shepherd & Linn, 2014a). Furthermore, it is associated with several behavioral interventions, such as handling specific challenges and contingency contracts. A continuous progress plan is essential in this tier to determine this strategy's effectiveness and areas that need adjustments.
