A biographical (biodata) inventory is a set of standardized questionnaire questions designed to collect job-related biographical data from a job seeker. The data intended for gathering from the individual may include information on their background, job experience, level and type of schooling, and hobbies. The inventory`s primary aim is to predict training and job performance, turnover, and tenure. A biographical inventory is pegged on the assumption that past behavior is a good predictor and a likely influencer of future behavior. Hence, biographical questions emphasize assessing job candidates` past performance around the areas that are similar or closely related to the role they are being interviewed for. A biographical inventory may comprise multiple-choice questions administered via paper or electronically, or it may be in the form of an accomplishment record. In the latter assessment type, a candidate is asked to provide a written report of their most commendable achievements in crucial ability and skill areas required for the role (Hough, 1984).
