For someone to behave in a certain way, antecedent variables, including discriminative stimuli and motivating operations, must influence what occurs before the targeted behavior. Stimulus discrimination occurs on several occasions in a learning setting when a learner participates in the target behavior of doing a particular task. Usually, discriminative stimuli act as condition reinforcers in several experiments, like observing responses, and it is used when the relevant primary reinforcement is effective (Edwards, Lotfizadeh & Poling, 2019).
